The combination of below-grade location, Vancouver's high humidity, and the moisture generated by bathroom use creates a triple threat for mould — cutting corners on waterproofing in a basement bathroom is a recipe for expensive remediation within a few years. Plumbing work requires a building permit with rough-in inspection before walls are closed.
